September is an important month for Belize. It is a time to celebrate the country's independence (National September Celebrations), and to reflect on what it took and what it means to be a Belizean.

September is also the time for the annual Belize Carnival road march, as thousands of Belizeans and visitors come out to celebrate, dance and masquerade through the streets of Corozal, Orange Walk (aka Sugar City), and Belize City.

Belize Carnival 2010 is set to take place on Saturday, September 11th. The Carnival King & Queen competition will be held on Saturday, September 4.
Belize Carnival is like any other popular carnival events across the Caribbean and around the world, but it is also unique. With a frenzy of colors and floats, lively costumed participants, pounding soca beats from speaker towers and throngs of persons watching from the sidelines, Belize Carnival is a time for people to dance their hearts out and literally dance themselves to a high.

Belize Carnival is also an opportunity to learn and pass on traditions. Some groups in Orange Walk for example, have used their carnival costumes to highlight their Mestizo and Maya culture. For many, it's not just a street parade, it's a connection to their heritage.

See u next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
